Plesk webmail index.php download issue

In few newly installed Plesk control panel sometimes when we try to access the URL “webmail.domain.com”, the index.php file gets downloaded. There won’t be much information you can retreive from webmail or apache log to identifiy the root cause of this Plesk Webmail PHP issue. What we need to check first is to make sure that PHP5 module is loaded properly. We can do few steps to resolve this issue.

First thing  we need to make sure the mail service is enabled and the webmail client is properly set for that particular domain. You can do this primary step by simply login to Plesk control Panel, click on Mail Settings tab, and choose webmail client from the drop down menu.

If the above options are properly set in Plesk panel, then ssh to the server as root user and do the following steps.

1. Access the file /etc/httpd/conf.d/php.conf in your favourite editors like vim or nano.

[root@HostDire ~]# vim /etc/httpd/conf.d/php.conf

2. Now search for  below entry  and uncomment it.

LoadModule php5_module modules/libphp5.so

Now you are able to access the URL without any issue. If the issue still persists, please  try again after clearing the browser cache or try it  in a different browser.
